New CMS
Looking for an alternative to Sitecore?
9 out of 10 users recommend Umbraco CMS
Sitecore used to be the safe choice. Back in the 00s and 10s, no one got into trouble for choosing Sitecore.
Many organisations still value it highly, but there are increasingly a few pain points starting to emerge – something we’re also seeing among some of our existing Sitecore clients.
Annual licensing has become a significant line item in the budget.
Sitecore development is expensive, which often means websites end up stagnating.
It’s becoming harder to find skilled partners – as there are fewer and fewer Sitecore specialists in Denmark.
But what should you choose as an alternative to Sitecore?
An obvious alternative to Sitecore could be Umbraco CMS. The Danish-developed open source CMS has grown explosively in maturity and popularity in recent years, both in Denmark and internationally. This also applies to large companies and organisations.
Umbraco: Also for large organisations
While Umbraco was mainly used for smaller websites 5–10 years ago, it is now widely used for large, complex, and business-critical solutions.
We have worked with both Sitecore and Umbraco for many years. But in recent years, we have moved more and more websites from Sitecore to Umbraco – and we fully understand why.
With Umbraco, you avoid licence costs due to its open-source nature. You also get a strong editor experience, a large pool of available developers, and typically lower costs for development, operations, and hosting.
User survey: Umbraco beats Sitecore
We can say this openly because we work with both platforms – and because users say the same.
Take a look at this benchmark between Sitecore and Umbraco.
In this benchmark from G2 comparing Umbraco and Sitecore across 26 different parameters, Umbraco comes out ahead on all of them.
Among other things, 67% of Sitecore users believe that the solution is user-friendly. That’s good – but 87% of Umbraco users say the same.
And while 48% of Umbraco users report that their investment paid for itself within six months, this is only true for 14% of Sitecore users.
Worried about migration?
If you’re running a large, content-heavy website, moving to a new CMS can seem overwhelming.
We have developed and tested tools that automate much of the migration process, making it significantly faster and more manageable.
And we can confidently say that every organisation we’ve helped migrate has been happy with their new platform.
