Holm & Halby

Automate digital processes

A key step in Holm & Halby’s digital transformation: a B2B webshop and PIM solution.

Comprehensive digital transformation

The transformation from manual workflows to automated digital processes at Holm & Halby is driving towards an overall goal of increased efficiency and a desire to free up resources for more specialised tasks.

One of Denmark's leading suppliers of laboratory equipment, Holm & Halby, is well underway with a comprehensive digital transformation of the entire company, with a B2B webshop and PIM solution playing a central role. They have taken this step to streamline work processes and ensure a better, updated and enriched product presentation.

With the close integration to PIM, the company has created a platform that is both more efficient and easier to use for their customers and employees, compared to the previous manual and more resource-intensive processes.

This is despite the fact that Holm & Halby has always had a conscious strategy of personalised sales and close relationships.

We chose Illumi as part of our digitalisation process for a partner who could offer a close, personal relationship, understand our complex business processes, and translate them into a digital solution - and that’s exactly what we got.

Shop & PIM in a single solution

The first phase of the project involved the development and implementation of a PIM system for enrichment and master data management of Holm & Halby's extensive product catalogue via 2-way product synchronisation with the ERP system Business Central. This meant a new way of working with products, which we, as a technical and IT strategic partner, had to take into account in the technical solution and in the overall IT architecture. This was the start of a larger, meaningful and good collaboration that would support Holm & Halby's business and ambition for digitalisation.

Via Holm & Halby's existing ERP system, products were automatically transferred to the PIM system Struct PIM, where it is now enriched with categories and additional master data and marketing data such as product descriptions, images and language versioning. The goal was that all products and components could be created efficiently with extensive inherited data, which has been a significant boost compared to the old handling. Struct PIM was chosen based on a desire for a flexible and long-lasting system that could handle several thousand products in the long term and be continuously developed as needed.

The webshop itself is relatively simple, but the underlying data structure and architecture is quite complex, but solved very satisfactorily. We wanted a solid system that could eventually handle the large setup with all and more complex products, and that's what we got.

Webshop as a customer centre

The result is an expanded customer centre with prices, customer data, ordering and purchasing options, offers, invoices and much more - all digitalised for the benefit of both Holm & Halby and their customers. The shop will eventually be available to new potential customers.

The project included many complex subtasks that together would support the digital transformation:

  • Pre-analysis of business processes

  • Mapping the manual processes for automation

  • Implementation of Struct PIM

  • Development and design of a B2B webshop

  • Integrations with Umbraco CMS, ERP system Business Central and Struct PIM

  • Upgrade of Holm & Halby's IT systems in collaboration with Holm & Halby's Navision partner

  • Data cleansing and enrichment.
