Yara gets a Progressive Web App

Together with Yara, we have developed a tool for farmers that ensures uniform fertilisation and potentially much better crop yields

A new digital tool

When Yara introduced a new warranty concept to ensure quality delivery from factory to farmer, a new digital tool was needed.

The solution had to be able to handle two main things:

  • A digital authentication of the delivery
  • Collect data from the spreading tests the farmer performs before fertilisation.

As farmers often use mobile devices in work-related situations, it was natural to develop the tool as a Progressive Web App.

How the solution works

In practice, the solution works as follows: the farmer checks his fertiliser delivery, registers in the app and registers whether the quality is satisfactory.

When it's fertiliser time, the farmer performs a spreading test following video instructions in the app, enters the results and receives guidance to optimise spreading. The web app retrieves local weather data on the day of the test and tells the farmer if the weather conditions are optimal for the upcoming spreading test.

A tool that connects customers and Yara

In addition to weather conditions, fertiliser quality and the correct setting of the fertiliser spreader are essential factors for getting the best yield from your fertiliser application. If the spreading is not correct, it can make the process more expensive, reduce crop yields and cause unnecessary pollution of the environment. That's why it's a solution that farmers appreciate and a digital tool that brings customers and Yara closer together.

The concept for the solution was developed in collaboration with the advertising agency Envision, which was also responsible for the visual presentation.

At Yara, we emphasise communication and collaboration with Danish farmers. With our new Yara Plus platform, we aim to help Danish farmers get the most value from our fertiliser products.
