Umbraco solution with reusable modules

New Umbraco website for Bygholm Kursuscenter to support a new business area.

Bygholm Kursuscenter is an independent business area at Bygholm Landbrugsskole. The school's facilities are used for organising courses and other events where the premises can be the setting for a festive day.

The solution

One unified Umbraco backend

In autumn 2019, we started our collaboration with Bygholm Landbrugsskole and Kursuscenter. At the time, the Landbrugsskole and Kursuscenter had two separate websites and the content was managed in two different content management systems.

In addition to creating two new and up-to-date websites with a focus on the core services, it was a great desire to gather the solutions in one common Umbraco backend and to give Bygholm Kursuscenter its own visual identity.

It makes my job as web editor easier that we have switched to a platform with an editor interface that is easy and clear to work with. The different modules we've developed give us a lot of options, but still ensure a consistent look on the site.

The solution is based on reuse

In the first phase, we built a new website for Bygholm Landbrugsskole with the idea that we would later create another website for the Kursuscenter. Read about the solution for Bygholm Landbrugsskole

In the second phase, we expanded Bygholm's Umbraco solution to include the website for the Kursuscenter.
Specifically, we reused the content components we developed for Bygholm Landbrugsskole and simply added a single silent video module.

To give the Kursuscenter its own visual identity, we designed a brand new colour theme that is automatically added to the content created on the course centre website.

A simple and inexpensive solution

Bygholm now has an up-to-date and solid solution that we can easily and inexpensively add more subsites if the school eventually expands with new business areas.
