DK-CAMP
New website with advanced search and filter functionality
DK-CAMP is an association of more than 225 independent campsites across Denmark.
Through the association, individual campsites benefit from a common marketing and web platform, a purchasing network and peer sparring.
We are very satisfied with the co-operation - and not least the solution we have received. And so are our members. They praise the opportunities they have been given to profile their campsites to users. And they praise how easy it is to customise their profile pages.

The core narrative
First and foremost, tourists and campers should have an inspiring and frictionless encounter with the many camping providers in Denmark.
Intuitive search functionality, large images with beautiful nature and campers you can mirror yourself in, whether you're looking for a winter pitch or a glamping holiday - these were the main requirements.
Based on the core narrative, "Together we make it easy to enjoy life", we began the design phase for a platform that would deliver high usability for both visitors and the many different types of editors.
At the workshop, we already talked a lot about design wishes, so after just a few iterations, the beautiful design created by Illumi was in place. The designer hit our wishes spot on.

The solution
When DK-CAMP came to us to discuss a new and modern platform for its members, it was with a lot of groundwork in hand. There was a clear expectation of what the new website should do for DK-CAMP and not least the many members.
The solution included an advanced search function with many different filtering options that users can use to find the right match of holiday type and location.
DK-CAMP can add more and edit the existing filters and categories as the need arises. They can also specify different settings for a single filter in terms of visibility and functionality.
Campsites and attractions are tied to geographical destinations that different content modules and features utilise across the site. For example, the page for a specific campsite automatically inserts a ribbon with different attractions in the area and links to theme pages that the campsite is a part of.
I knew Illumi from a previous collaboration, so it was only natural to ask if they wanted to help develop a new dk-camp.dk in Umbraco. Fortunately, they did.

A website with more than 200 editors
DK-CAMP has two very different editor roles, and with more than 200 editors, it goes without saying that the user interface must be intuitive and easy to work in. The smallest group of editors work in the DK-CAMP secretariat as website administrators. The largest group of editors currently numbers 229 campsite editors, whose primary task is to run a campsite and be there for the guests - not to edit a profile page on dk-camp.dk.
Therefore, in the back office setup, we have focused on supporting editors with clear input hints, required fields, and access restrictions - ensuring a simple interface that is easy to use, even for infrequent users.
With the solution Illumi has developed, we have the opportunity to change the site ourselves at a completely different pace than before.

Language versioning
The website has three different language layers, which vary in many areas in relation to the amount of content. Not all pages are available in all three languages. On the other hand, the campsite profile pages are always language-versioned, with certain master data and images inherited from the Danish version. The campsite profile pages can be language-versioned in a side-by-side view, making it easy for editors to manage.
