NRGi multi-website

NRGi unifies its digital platforms in a rebrand

As part of a group-level rebranding strategy, NRGi wanted to clarify that its various entities now operate under one unified brand.

We came on board because NRGi wanted to consolidate all their many websites into one multisite solution built in Umbraco CMS. Previously, the different websites were built in different CMSs, so the merger would facilitate administration, centralise development and streamline the overall brand.

Different players under one umbrella

The energy company NRGi consists of different business units. Several of these were previously independent companies, each with their own website and brand identity.

In connection with a rebranding strategy at group level, NRGi wanted to clarify that the different players now belong under one umbrella. Therefore, they decided that all the websites at the time should be gathered on one platform. Illumi has been at the forefront of this.

Together - apart

With the multisite solution, a lot of functionality has been centralised, but at the same time, each of NRGi's players has the opportunity to showcase unique products and services individually. Externally, the solution therefore appears as several independent but uniform websites.

"NRGi has consolidated different parts of the business into one common, communicative universe," explains Henrik Møller. "One of the benefits is that they can now centralise a large part of the editorial work. At the same time, local editors have access to unique functionality where it makes sense. At NRGi.dk, for example, we have developed features for selling subscriptions and guiding customers through their electricity bill. Customers can also check the operating status in their local area - and much more."

"To support the sale of complex B2B advisory products, we have developed other features," Henrik Møller continues. "This way, each website has some features that the others don't - yet you can clearly see that all the business units are part of NRGi."

Functionality across business units

In cases where a functionality can make sense for several of the players, it is made available to all. For example, if the business units want a module so that customers can keep an eye on changing electricity prices, the same module can be used by all. Illumi has also developed such a module.

Several of the multi-site modules exchange data with NRGi's underlying IT systems. Therefore, it has been necessary to work systematically with integrations, which Illumi has also been responsible for - naturally in close collaboration with NRGi's own people.

Security at the top

Although much editorial work is now centralised, the business units' own editors are still responsible for producing unique content for the respective units' websites. With specific user rights, editors only have access to the areas of the multisite solution that they should have access to. Therefore, there is no risk of editors stepping on each other's toes or editing in the wrong place.

The basic idea behind a multisite is that there's no need to reinvent the wheel for every website when there's a lot of functionality that can just as easily be reused. At the same time, security must, of course, be completely in order. This also applies when the multisite exchanges customer data with the underlying IT systems.

We guarantee a high level of security, both through the technical structure and the user rights to the solution. Security is important to NRGi - as it is to all professional companies. That's why it's a clear priority in all the solutions we develop.
